Frequently Asked Questions

Products

What formats do you offer?

At the moment, we offer our prints on both paper and canvas, framed and unframed. It is up to the artist to decide whether to sell all formats or disable some.

Paper options are the most photo-realistic, and framed versions come with a plexiglass/glass cover. Our go-to Art paper is great for most contexts. We also offer HahnemĂĽhle Photo Rag (308g) - the gold standard for Fine Art prints - on demand and for all Limited Editions.

Canvas options can be slightly less detailed but they are thicker and have got added texture, which minimizes glare. For the same reason, framed versions are fully exposed (no glass).

Our frames have a minimalist look: black or white.

Please see this page for more details.

What sizes do you offer?

Our sizes range from 20x30cm to 100x140cm, both horizontal and vertical.
Some frames might add a few centimeters to the overall print footprint.

Artists may elect to limit the availability of their work to certain sizes and formats. We may also decide not to offer an image in a given format if we believe that the image is not a good fit for it.

Can you print my order in a custom format or size?

The formats and sizes we offer are tried and tested - Our artists approved them, we trust our suppliers to do a superb job with them, and we can ship them fast. That said, if you have a special request, send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

How realistic are the augmented-reality 3D previews on Gallerista?

Pretty realistic, but not 100% perfect. They should give you a very good idea of size, color and texture in the context of the space you are in. We develop our 3D models in-house, so we have full control on them.

However, end results depend on the software and hardware of your specific device, which manufacturers like Apple and Samsung are constantly improving. For example, we are aware that iOS currently renders our models better than Android.

When in doubt between different sizes, please use some good old measuring tape to assess how much space you are working with, and add a buffer of a few centimeters.

Can I return my purchase?

Our prints are not industrial products - They are custom made to order. As such, all sales are final and we are unable to accept returns.

That said, we are here to make you happy:

  • If your order was damaged while in transit, please email us as soon as possible and attach a few pictures of what happened. We’ll follow up and make it right.
  • If the product you receive does not match what you ordered (which should never happen), please email us as soon as possible and attach a few pictures. We’ll follow up and make it right as well.
Do you own the rights for the art you are selling?

We have a license to sell all of the Art you see on our platform. Our partner Artists retain 100% intellectual ownership of the Art we sell. They have explicitly granted us the right to sell it in print, and they are paid for every piece we sell.

How do you use AI?

100% of the work you see on Gallerista is original and was created by an artist. We expose each piece as-is: what you see on our platform is what the artist uploads.

Some Artists may elect to use AI to develop their pieces, in the same way that they use Photoshop, filters or other tools. AI is a powerful and transformational technology, but it is ultimately a tool.

We do the same: Most of our code base is written with AI. Many of our internal processes are run by AI. Some of the environment renderings you see (NOT the art itself) are made with AI.

This enables us to offer a service and an experience that would otherwise not be possible.

On the other hand: Our prints are inspected, packaged and delivered by real humans. We do not pass *any* customer information to *any* AI model. When you interact with us via email or message, you are always speaking with a human unless we tell you otherwise.

Our assessment is that this places Gallerista in risk category 4 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act) - Posing minimal to no risk.

Logistics

Do you ship worldwide?

We currently ship across Europe, to the UK and to the US. If you would like to receive our products in another geography, please send us an email. We'll do our best!

When can I expect to receive my order?

It depends on what you are ordering:

  • Unframed prints are the fastest to deliver - we can get them to you in just a few working days in most geographies.
  • For canvas and framed formats - especially the largest ones - allow up to 3 working weeks. These require more manual work, more careful handling and sometimes special transportation. We promise, they’re worth the wait!
Is shipping always free?

We offer free shipping across Europe, to the UK and the US with extra options to get your shipment faster for a premium, when possible. If you would like us to deliver somewhere else, let us know and we will give you our best quote.

Where are your products manufactured?

It mostly depends on where you are and what you order. Our two priorities are (i) quality and (ii) speed of delivery, in this order.

We maintain direct relationships with a large number of professional print studios around the world that we are constantly re-assessing to guarantee top-notch quality.

As a general rule, we manufacture your order as close as possible to where it is shipping to. If no supplier meets our quality standards in your region, we’ll ship from a different region.

What kind of packaging do you use to protect your products during delivery?

Excellent question.

  • Our unframed prints are covered in protective sheets of paper and rolled into ultra-sturdy cardboard tubes, reducing volume while maximizing rigidity. If you ordered hanging sticks, they come protected in the same tube.
  • Our canvases and framed products come ready to hang in a hard, flat cardboard package. Depending on size and finish, they come covered in at least one layer of bubble wrap, sealed plastic wrap, reinforced cardboard, or light wood. When necessary, we insert extra-hard protection on the four corners, and bumpers on the back.

Artists

Do you only work with Artists from specific countries?

We work with artists all over the world. In fact, many of them are constantly on the move and like to live off the grid.

I can’t find the artist/picture I want, can you add them?

You can refer new artists through this link, and we will do our best to onboard them. If there is a specific picture you like, you can link it in that page.

How much do you charge Artists?

We are true business partners, so we do not “charge” Artists. Instead, we retain a portion of our proceeds when a piece of art is sold. Our platform is free to use - Artists can set up their Galleria and go live at no cost. If their art does not sell, we do not charge them a dime.

How we split profits depends on a few things, such as how early the artist joined, how much they are selling and how large their captive audience is. We generally pay out the majority of our gross profits to Artists. Contact us for more details.
